Isle of Wight

A few days before we headed out for our camping trip to Dover we told a few friends our plans and they started laughing at us. They said if you wanted to see white cliff just visit Old Harry's rocks. (They haven't even been to Dover, so I don't even know why I was listening to them.) Well that got us thinking. If this really is our last summer here we might regret not going to Dover but we would regret not going to the Isle of Wight even more. Every time we've gone to the beach we've gazed over to the left of us and looked at what we like to call the cliffs of insanity. So I cancelled our camping site at Dover and booked another one on the Isle of Wight. So instead of driving for three hours (yes, we are turning British because that was one of the bigger factors of us changing our minds) we took a ferry to the Island.

Shanklin Chine
Very beautiful but it cost a fortune to get in. Once you are in you have to leave to go to the beach and you can't get back in. We explored Shanklin for a bit on our first day.

Our second day we went to Osborne House. This was Queen Victoria's summer home with her family. This was a highlight of the trip for me because I love exploring grand places and this was no disappointment. The house along with the grounds are amazing.
On our way back from Osborne house we wanted to stop for some seafood. We looked in our little guide under seafood and found a place called The best Dressed Crab in Town. It was a miracle Mardy found it because the roads we confusing and in the end there was only a little sign indicating where it was. We were expecting a restaurant and found that it was only a little shop so this is what we picked out. It was fresh as fresh could be but it was a little too daring for us. The shrimp were still shrimp....anyway we ate what we could and threw the rest away.
Here are Old Harry's cousin's the Needles. At the Needle's they have a an amusement park but I'm pretty sure they pay a lot more for advertising than they do for upkeep of the park.
We took a chair lift down to the bottom. We played on the rocky beach for a bit. We were a little early for our ferry so Mardy and I took our sleeping Raven to lunch at another seafood place that was so much better. Mardy got crab guacamole and I had some crayfish tales.

Oh I love reading about all your trips and adventures bashing around England. The pictures look like a breath of fresh air. I really want to go there before you move, so don't move cause it might take a while.
