Youth Temple Trip

I was able to go to the London Temple today with the Youth from our ward. I have to say that we have some awesome youth here. They are such good kids. The Temple is beautiful and believe it or not but there are still trees there with fall leaves. You don't believe me well here are some pictures.

Heres a picture of some and the Ladies

I am so grateful to be living so close to a Temple.

From Bournemouth to Boscombe

Today we were invited to our new friend Erich's house for dinner. We met him at the Bournemouth Pier and then we walked along the beach to the Boscombe Peir. Raven had so much fun with her new best friend Prince Eric (from little mermaid). She is so much fun to take pictures of. We couldn't have asked for a cuter kid. It was kind of windy, I say kind of because I'm from southern Alberta and I know better, but it was still very nice. The weather hasn't gotten very cold here yet so we still love being outside. This was our first time to Boscombe. We've wanted to go since we've been here and never had that chance. Thanks Erich for a wonderful meal....and mostly for the swiss chocolate.

Girl with a pearl earring

We're celebrating our anniversary a day early today. Mardy has the day off of school and we're stuck home waiting for the groceries to be delivered that should have been delivered yesterday morning but thats another story.

I love being married....and even more I love being married to Mardy. He's my best friend....and slave. He's been so good to me and I am so grateful to him. Mardy you are truly the best.

In the five years since we've been married we've moved 8 times in 3 different countries. Mardy has been to 3 Universities and 4 1/2 years of school. Most importantly the greatest addition to our lives has been Raven. She is our most favourite super cute and adorable, sweetest little girl ever.

Mardy is currently attending Law school at the Bournemouth University and specializing in tax law. I am having the time of my life staying home with Raven and having new adventures every day. We love Bournemouth and we love our Ward that we are in. They have immediately become our friends. I am truly grateful for the gospel. I couldn't have made this move half way around the world without it.

Why is my post called Girl with a pearl earring...well because for our 5th anniversary Mardy got me pearls and they look just like the one in the painting. I love them. Mardy you are too thoughtful. Here's to Paris for our 6th.

Oh Remember Remember the 5th of November

Tonight we had a bonfire night and a ton of fire works for a ward activity. Mardy asked people at school why people have been lighting off fire works all week and they told him it was because they were celebrating Guy Fawkes getting burned at the stake. Apparently he was trying to overthrow the King and this is the day they celebrate his capture. Anyway so they were lighting them on the lawn behind the church and everyone was watching from a few feet away in the parking lot. Well you can probably guess where this story is going. The first firework to go astray went straight into the crowd of people. I was near the door because I was helping get the food ready at the same time but Mardy and Raven were in the back of the crowd. Well one of the fire works went right up in the middle of the crowd of people and Mardy and others had to run from it. Raven got a bit scared so we went inside and watched it from the entrance of the church with the other small crying children. So you'd think that perhaps they would have stopped after that first misadventure but no, 3 more went flying into the crowd. Haha, I can hear people lighting them off right now. You can hear them from just after it gets dark till your sleeping in your bed.

War on Mildew

There are a few things that I am slowly learning living here. The first and foremost that I am going to tell you about is our mildew problem. Never before moving here had I heard about a dehumidifier. A what? Thats right my prairie home friends a DEhumidifier. Moving in we found one in our apartment. It wasn't until we'd been there for a month that we realized that perhaps we should have been using it the entire time.

Every time we boil water the windows fog up, after showering the entire bathroom is a sauna and it fogs up the windows in our other rooms for the entire day. I've slowly been watching the mildew grow in the bathroom cleaning it often. I thought I could handle it until I saw that around all the windows there was black mildew and white fuzzies growing along the sides and now its war. From my previous post when we moved from Fort Macleod you can see that I have a love for the extreme cleaning (and oven cleaner). I turned on the DEhumidifier and in one morning I emptied about 15 cups out of it. I got out a brand new toothbrush, gave it to Mardy and took his old one and went to work. Splashing cleaner here and there and on the ceiling in the bathroom and scrub a dub dub bright and shinny. I thought I would also add some pictures of our apartment on here so you can see that even though we live in mildew its a beautiful place. The pictures make it look smaller than it really is. So....Welcome to my home.
